So I was hassled last night at my MOPS Discussion Group Leaders Christmas Party. Apparently, they felt blog reading deprived. So, I guess its time for some Blog CPR.
What can I say, its been busy! We went to my parents' house in Mukilteo for Thanksgiving weekend and had a wonderful Turkey Day Dinner hosted at my brother and sister-in-law's house. In regards to this sister-in-law, I love her like a sister, and I consider her a sister, but it sounds sorta creepy to say 'at my brother and sister's house.' Dontcha think?
So, while we were gone, we managed to miss the FIRST SNOW OF THE SEASON!!! On my birthday too!!! Argh. We came home to rain and wet. I searched high and low for even a small patch of snow, but alas, there was none to be found.
My mom and sister and I went to see 'Four Christmases'. It was pretty entertaining. I was a little concerned since it earned a whopping....drumroll please...you ready for this? 1.5 Stars. Yes. 1.5 lonely little stars. However, being the sappy, chickflick lover that I am, I actually enjoyed it. Besides, holiday movies are always cheesy, aren't they?
I've been trying to get the house straightened up. You know, laundry and other misc mess that comes with travelling. Tomorrow is Spoiled Housewife Day. If you don't know what this is, its the sanity saver that your husband commits to providing you, knowing full well, that if he didn't, he would have to commit YOU. My name is Sarah, and I have a cleaning lady. She comes and rescues me every other week. I love her. So tomorrow, after she performs her magic on our humble abode, I am going to finish decorating. Then, this weekend, I'm hoping to bake, bake, bake!!!
I just want you to know something. As I type this, its dark, except for the lights of the Christmas tree. Matthew is in my wheeled laundry hamper and is being pushed from the laundry room to the kitchen. And back. And he's loving it. I really should put a stop to it, because I just know that said wheeled hamper will be an unwheeled hamper soon. But he loves it.
Anyway. So last night Pete texted me and said he has a surprise for me when I got home. My mind starts wandering. Once I rescued it from the gutter, I began thinking of various scenarios. I knew it wasn't the laundry...he was alone w/ 4 kids all evening. I knew he didn't clean the house...he was alone w/ 4 kids all evening. I thought maybe he cleaned out my car, but then I remembered he was alone w/ 4 kids all evening. I thought maybe he finished cleaning the office, but that would be more a surprise for him than me, since that's his favorite room in the house (besides the bathroom).
So as I'm driving home, missing my heated seats, (had to take his truck, since he needed the Suburban to pick up Abby from Gymnastics) I couldn't come up with a likely scenario. I came in and did my motherly duty of fishing the car out of the toilet upstairs (Charmie, I won't be needing Matt's services afterall...at least not today) and kissing sleeping angelic children goodnight. I walked downstairs and what to my wondering eyes should appear but a clean shaven husband on his couch so dear.
Yep, he shaved. He no longer has a beard. I like it better when he shaves (its not so scratchy when we make out) but it still looks wierd since he had it for a few weeks. The longest EVER. I'm getting used to it already. The funniest part of it is...THE KIDS DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE. How could you not notice that your dad shaved a stuffed animal off his face? Ok, it wasn't that bad. Now he says I have to shave my legs. We'll see.
